The installation of red transit-only lane treatment along Market Street is complete! Installed on the existing transit-only lanes between 5th and 12th Streets, this treatment will allow transit vehicles to bypass traffic congestion, and will serve as a strong visual reminder to road users to respect the transit-only restriction.
The red lanes along Market Street add to the growing list of red transit-only lanes all across San Francisco, including:
- J Church/ 22 Fillmore: between 16th St and Duboce Ave
- 8X Bayshore Expresses: 3rd St between Townsend and Jessie Streets
- 38/38LGeary: Geary between Powell and Polk, O’Farrell between Gough and Powell
- 71 Haight/Noriega/ 6 Parnassus: Haight Street between Laguna and Market Streets
SFMTA Proposes New Car Restrictions, Extended Bus Lanes on Lower Market Last week, the SFMTA presented its proposal to ban private auto drivers from turning onto Market Street, between Third and Eighth Streets.
